For I was a stranger and you welcomed me. (Matthew 25:35)
We would like to thank everyone who has joined St. Cuthbert’s in refugee sponsorship so far. We welcomed our first refugee this summer, and are awaiting word about a family to arrive in the coming months.
On February 6 we held a successful refugee information fair. Over thirty people came out to offer help, but if you still want to get involved you can contact us through our online inquiry form.
We reached our financial goal of $40,000, but additional donations can still be used. Please ensure it is clearly marked “refugee sponsorship,” and include your full name and address so we can issue a charitable tax receipt. You can drop off your donation or mail it to us at:
St. Cuthbert’s Anglican Church, 1399 Bayview Ave, Toronto, ON M4G 3A6
You can also donate to St. Cuthbert’s online through Canada Helps. Please be sure to indicate in the comments fields that your donation is for refugee sponsorship. (For larger donations, we prefer a cheque where possible).
If you are able to donate time, skills or household items, please contact us with details of how you can help. Areas of need include accommodations, transportation, as well as supporting transition to Canada through schools, medical appointments, English classes and employment.
We have limited storage space, so we won’t be collecting large household items until a family has been assigned. Please do not bring furniture to the church.
Our refugee sponsorship is being coordinated through the Anglican United Refugee Alliance (AURA), the umbrella organization for Anglican parishes in the Diocese of Toronto pursuing refugee sponsorship.
For more information or to indicate how you can help, please contact our refugee sponsorship committee through our online form.
With your help, we will provide a warm welcome to refugees.
