Job Description: Coordinator, Children and Youth Ministry

Parish: St. Cuthbert’s, Leaside

Position: Coordinator, Children and Youth Ministry

Reports to: Incumbent

Classification: Part Time, 15 Hrs. per week.

Position Description 

Description: 

The primary purpose is to reboot and build up  Children’s and Youth  Ministry so that children and youth in our community are shaped and nurtured in the Good News of God that is found in Jesus Christ in a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment. A second purpose is to encourage, equip and effectively coordinate lay volunteers serving in these ministries. 

Duties and Responsibilities

First duty is to coordinate the reimagination and relaunch of Children’s and Youth Ministry at St. Cuthbert’s, Leaside. Second, after relaunch to nurture and grow these ministries. Third, to lead and coordinate clergy and lay leadership on Sundays and other occasions.

Administration

Coordinate series of meetings to develop new vision for ministries.

Incorporating Safe Church Policy requirements, develop revised volunteer position descriptions.

Coordinate Lay Volunteer Recruitment.

Assess existing Gospel centered curricula.

Plan curricula implementation at relaunch.

Assess and maintain Ministry supplies.

Track and report attendance

Establish and maintain protocols and procedures for effective running of Ministries, incorporating Safe Church policy requirements 

Ensure appropriate set up of rooms for ministries.

Promotion, Recruitment, Screening & Training: 

Recruit, train and mentor teachers

Ensure the visibility of our children through intergenerational activities (e.g. participating in liturgy through reading and singing, sharing crafts/teachings with the congregation, Open House etc.)

Maintain an on-going relationship with parishioners

Implement the Responsible Ministry: Screening in Faith initiative 

Provide teachers and assistants with resources and skill development training Provide an annual evaluation for teachers and assistants

Invite the neighborhood to participate in special events 

Co-ordination: 

Organize the roster of clergy and Lay volunteers

Co-ordinate special events and activities (e.g. Christmas pageant, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday programs).

Plan and facilitate take home resources

Participate in Baptismal and Confirmation Preparation with clergy 

Skills & Experience: 

A committed follower of Jesus Christ, 

  • whose faith is consistent with the Nicene Creed as received in the Anglican Church of Canada. 
  • who is Passionate about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with children and youth. 
  • Is experienced working on ministry teams. 
  • And is imaginative, energetic and flexible.  

The successful candidate will have: 

  • Advanced Microsoft Office, internet, and social media competencies. 
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills. 
  • Pastoral sensibilities and pastoral care competencies. 
  • A Post Secondary degree or diploma. 

Formal Theological education would be an asset as would Music and drama competencies 

Compensation

$20.00 per hour

COVID-19

The successful candidate will need to provide results showing a recent negative COVID-19 test before their first day of work and will comply with Diocese of Toronto COVID-19 protocols while serving in this position.
